This publication provides a statistical overview of the current situation of women in the areas of social, economic and political, based on statistical information available, it is possible to identify the main areas where there are major inequalities, as well as main changes and constraints over time.
The work done by the INEGI over fourteen years in generation, analysis and dissemination of statistics on the gender approach has not only been the response to the demands and recommendations, but above all the institutional commitment to strengthen this field of statistical information and has received support from various institutions and national and multilateral agencies such as the National Women's Institute and the Office of the Regional Development Fund Nacions for Women (UNIFEM). With this issue reiterates its commitment INEGI to continue promoting the generation, integration and dissemination of gender statistics, thereby strengthening the process begun in 1994, introducing a revamped publication and information on key topics that have updated statistics.
